Visit Burslem, the birthplace of novelist Arnold Bennett, pottery designers Josiah Wedgwood and Clarice Cliff.

Burslem has many historical buildings. As you travel through the mother town of the Potteries you can see the fine examples of Georgian and Victorian architecture. The Old Town Hall was completed in 1857 and its famous golden angel has had many refits over the years. It is currently being given a fresh makeover to mark the ceramic industry in the Potteries.

Burslem has some stories of local characters, with the reputed witch, Mollie Lee among the foremost She now lies silent, surrounded by a schoolyard myth in the burial grounds of St Johns Church which dates back to the 16th century.
